MorphMarket Orders- "Buy Now"

Orders ("Buy Now") streamline the way people buy and sell animals on MorphMarket. This system allows sellers to accept credit card payments directly on the site via Square.

  • This feature is optional and is only available in regions where Square payments are accepted.
  • If you do not already have a Square account, you will need to sign up for one to use this feature.
  • For the first 12 months, this will be available to MorphMarket sellers at no additional charge, but Square fees will still apply (be sure to check Square's website for your specific region; this hyperlink will take you to the US fees page).

This guide will walk you through the essential steps for both sellers and buyers to use this feature effectively.

For Sellers

  1. Setting Up Your Seller Account

  • To begin, make sure you have a Square account. If not, you'll need to sign up for one.
  • Log in to MorphMarket and navigate to your Seller Profile Settings from the main menu.
    • Click on your account menu located in the upper right corner.
      • On mobile, this menu can be found by clicking on the circle icon with your store logo.

      • On desktop, this menu can be found by clicking on your username.

      • From there, a dropdown menu will appear. Select "Account Settings."
      • Once selected, the menu will expand to show additional options. Click "Seller Profile."

  • In your seller profile, scroll down to the bottom of the page and expand the "More Settings" section. Find the "Payment & Delivery Settings" header. Under "Payment Systems," click on "Connect Square Account."

    • Please note: In order to use this feature, you must have a Square account set-up. This is a third-party platform with additional fees. Accepting payments via Square is optional.
  • You will be asked to sign into your Square account.
  • You will be given a pop-up to grant MorphMarket access. You must click "allow" to connect.
    • Please note: If you previously authorized MorphMarket to access your Square account and want to reauthorize it to communicate the updated information, please disconnect and then reconnect your Square account.

    • View your payments history: MorphMarket will ONLY be able to view the payment history of transactions that occurred through MorphMarket to display this on your "Orders" page.
    • Take payments and make refunds: MorphMarket is the communication point between the buyer and the seller. Payments and refunds are communicated to Square through MorphMarket, but we can NOT force payments or refunds through. All refunds must be completed directly through the Square website.
    • Collect a fee from each payment taken: For the first 12 months, MorphMarket will not be charging any additional fees to use this system. A fee may be charged in the future.
    • View your merchant profile information: This allows us and Square to communicate basic profile information, such as name, profile image, and email address.
    • View your Square orders: We can only view information for orders processed on MorphMarket. This is how we communicate the sales information, such as order # and shipping amount to Square.
    • Create or update your Square orders: Only applies to orders made on MorphMarket, we can not access information for other orders. We will also NOT make or force any changes. This is to allow our site and Square to communicate to provide you with accurate sales information, such as updating the Orders page to display if you issued a refund from the Square app.
  • Once connected, you will be redirected to MorphMarket and given a "success" message. You can disconnect Square at any time via your Seller Profile.
  • Sellers should also update their default "Inquiry Message" on their seller profile. This will be shown to buyers before they enter their credit card information, and it is a good time to explain any purchase requirements.

  1. Enabling Payments for Listings

Once your Square account is connected, you can enable payments for your listings.

Important Information

    • Only animals with free or flat-rate shipping can be purchased through the MorphMarket Orders feature.
      • To add a flat-rate shipping value, select "Shipping Price Range" and enter the same $ value in both the "Min." and "Max." boxes.
    • This feature is not currently available for multiple-quantity animal ads.
    • The ability to enable payments will only be visible once a Square account is connected.
  • Sellers can enable payments by checking the "Enable Payments" box on the individual edit/add animal page.
    • This is located below the "Price" box in the "Sale Info" section.

  • Sellers can also enable payments using bulk actions.
    • In your Animal Manager, select the animals you want to enable payments.
    • Open the "Bulk Actions" menu.

    • Scroll to the bottom of the menu and click "Enable Payments."

    • A pop-up module will appear. Check "Enable Payments."

  1. Managing Orders

  • Once payments are enabled, a "Purchase Animal" button will be visible for that ad.
    • Once selected, the buyer will be required to agree to the seller's terms and conditions.
    • They will also be shown your store's default "Inquiry Message."
      • You may wish to update this to include information specific to credit card orders.
      • You can make these changes via your "Seller Profile."
    • Here is an example of what the buyer will see:

  • Once the buyer agrees to the terms, enters their shipping information, and inputs their credit card, the order will be created, and the seller will receive a notification.
    • A message thread will automatically be opened. You can use this to communicate with your buyer.
    • The listing will automatically be placed "On Hold." Other users can still inquire about the animal during this time.
    • View and manage the order via the Orders page or by clicking on the Order # in the message thread.

  • You have 24 hours to "Agree to Sell" or "Reject Order."
    • The buyer is made aware of this policy throughout the buying process.
    • If the order is not accepted within the timeframe, it will automatically be canceled.
    • We strongly recommend that you verify the shipping information before accepting an order.
    • Buyers can select a nearby FedEx Hub or enter a shipping address.
      • Please make sure that this aligns with your store's shipping policies or that you get a different address to ship the animal to.

  • Once the order is accepted, the status will default to "Unfulfilled."
    • Sellers should use this time to communicate any additional information to the buyer, such as shipping timeframes, delays, etc.
    • We also recommend confirming the order's payment status as "Paid."
  • When the order ships, the seller should change the status to "Shipped."
    • To do this, open the "Fulfillment Status" dropdown and select "Shipped." Save your changes.
    • This will automatically mark the animal as "Sold."
    • This will prompt a ratings notification between the buyer and the seller.

  • The "Order Status" will remain "Open" until the buyer confirms that the animal was received.

For Buyers

  1. Making a Purchase
  • Find the listing you wish to purchase. If a seller has the orders system enabled, you will see a "Purchase Animal" button.
    • Click on this button to pay with a credit card.
    • Please make sure that you are ready to pay and complete the transaction. If you have questions or need additional information, please use the "Inquire to Buy" button instead.

  • Before you begin the transaction, please carefully review the seller's terms and conditions and read over all of the information provided.
    • You will need to agree to all of these terms before placing your order.

  • Enter your shipping details.
    • Please carefully enter your address and verify its accuracy.

  • You will automatically be prompted to select your nearest FedEx hub location.
      • Most sellers will require shipments to FedEx hub locations.
      • Please confirm that the hub is nearby and accessible to you.
      • You can choose to skip this step by clicking "Skip Hub."

  • Follow the prompts to enter your payment details.

  • A message thread will automatically be opened between you and the seller.

  • The seller will have 24 hours to approve or decline the purchase.
    • You can review your order by selecting the "Purchases" tab on the Orders page, or by clicking the order link in the message thread.
      • You will be able to see the order status on this page.


  • The buyer will receive notifications once the order is approved by the seller, and when the seller ships the animal.
    • The buyer will need to reach out to the seller directly for tracking information.

  • To finalize the transaction, the buyer should "Confirm Goods Received" via the Orders page once the delivery arrives.

Search for "Buy Now" Listings

A user can search specifically for listings with this feature enabled.

  • When browsing, open the "Filters."

  • Scroll to the bottom and find the "Other Options" header.
  • Click the checkbox next to "Buy Now."
  • Apply your changes.
